Abstract

KidFinity is aimed for pediatric leukemia patients. This app, allowing for the improved comprehension of the disease and connection of fellow patients, aims to better the overall emotional wellbeing of patients experiencing this life-changing disease. Often times, children with cancer have a hard time truly understanding what their body is experiencing, and the ability to relate to others is especially difficult as pediatric cancer is fairly uncommon. The main engineering goals of KidFinity are to provide representation for patients, the education of their disease and journey in understandable concepts, and a platform for conversation amongst fellow patients. KidFinity will accomplish these tasks by its existence as a game by allowing the user to recieve information in an age-appropriate, comprehensible way while also communicating with others experiencing a similar journey. However, the timeline to create a game is extremely long, so KidFinity will begin as a combination of designed wireframes and sketches, through the use of Balsamiq Wireframes and sketches. KidFinity will then be reviewed by volunteers in terms of concept, design, and applicability. The aim of KidFinity is to improve the mental state of children with leukemia- a saddening, transformative disease- through a conceptually relatable game for children.
