Abstract

The purpose of this study was to see if there was a correlation between all teachers and the reasons they gave as to why they left the teaching field. It helps the state leaders in finding ways to help teachers stay in their professions and support them in areas that they are struggling with. It is hypothesized that teacher retention is on the rise due to the student's behavioral issues in public schools. A survey of various questions was created and sent out to all the teachers across the nation of various subject areas that have been retired from the teaching profession. The questions included various reasons that made them choose different professions and the factors which may have contributed to their decisions individually by giving out a rating scale. After reviewing several scholarly articles, websites, journals, and reports it has been found that there are several factors related to student behaviors that had led to teacher retention in the country. Based on the results that have been taken from the survey, and a linear regression were performed to analyze the data findings. These tests were significant since they contributed to the understanding of the correlation between the reasons that teachers presented for their change in careers. Student behaviors can have a major impact on teachers and put them into situations where they could leave the schools.
