Abstract

According to Canine Behavioral Services Inc., “most” pets, primarily dogs, ignore human boundaries. It takes time, as well as, an owner who is home and willing to reinforce and train dogs to set boundaries. Throughout the training, people often find it difficult to teach dogs certain behaviors as new boundaries are set. As situations become more and more difficult, such methods, such as shock collars and scents are used to deter dogs. However effective they are, these methods also come across as harmful to a pet’s mental and physical development. Since most pet owners have jobs and must leave their pets unattended, we are looking to create a device to solve the problem. We are developing an indoor boundary device that will use sound to deter the dog away from the preset boundary. This device is primarily using Arduino boards and RFID readers.
