The Echo
Current Volume: Volume 2026
Dear Reader,
It is my joy to present to you the 2026 edition of The Echo. This issue offers a truly outstanding and diverse selection of work.
This issue could not have been constructed without our Editorial Board. This year's Assistant Editors Mason Blount, Gracie Moore, and Dimitriana Tsiali were crucial in laying the foundation for a successful year. I have truly enjoyed the camaraderie of all meetings, and appreciate the compassion and genuine enthusiasm all board members have brought to every step of the process. Special thanks is always in order for our faculty advisors Dr. Laura Morris and Dr. Joni Tevis for their guidance and unyielding support. We are sustained, most of all, by the creativity of our peers. This issue would not be possible without the courage of all who submitted work for consideration. We thank and admire them for their artistry and vulnerability.
The past year was marked by the loss of Dr. Willard Pate, a stalwart supporter of creative efforts on Furman's campus. Dr. Pate molded many generations of Furman students into shrewd critics and had a deep appreciation for the power literary and visual forms can create when combined. This year's issue of The Echo is dedicated to her. My hope is that future iterations of The Echo will continue to honor her memory through mindful curation of excellent work and active investment in Furman’s creative life.
Thank you for reading.
