Description
While a day in the Walt Disney World Resort is filled with magic and excitement, much of the day is spent waiting in lines. For some rides, Disney offers special lines, called Single-Rider Lines (SRL), that are different than the normal line. People in the SRL are used to fill in single seats on rides that are left open after loading the ride from the regular queue so that each ride can launch at full capacity. This allows for the maximum number of people to ride the attraction throughout the day. There are currently three rides in Walt Disney World that have a single rider line, but Space Mountain, one of our favorites in the Magic Kingdom theme park, is not one of them, and while waiting in line for Space Mountain, we noticed that many of the rockets had an empty seat. Our project was to show through a series of hypothesis tests and regression analyses that Space Mountain would benefit from a single rider line by maximizing the throughput of the ride.
