Description

Current annotation tools such as ANNOVAR and SnpEff misannotate a very few challenging cases such as when Indels cause frameshifts or compensate one another, causing it to not show the full mutation. Neighborhood-Aware Variant Impact Predictor (NAVIP) is a program intended to fix these problems by identifying these regions and correctly labeling them. This project tests the effectiveness of NAVIP and investigates co-occuring varients where the original amino acid is preserved from the second mutation. We identify multiple occurrences of the co-occuring varients in Arabidopsis thaliana and discuss the possible reasons for these. This work was performed at Bielefeld University, Center for Biotechnology, Germany.
