Description
Why does Japan have such ingrained stigmas attached to the mentally ill and criminals? If these stigmas were not so prominent would the rehabilitation process for criminals and the healing process for people diagnosed with mental disorders be smoother/easier?As a criminologist and cross-cultural psychologist it is important to ask these questions so we can help better societies. These stigmas might hold a great deal of detriment to a fraction of the population. This creates an environment where people are being wrongfully judged. Psychologists might be able to be the mediators between these two parts of the population and allow healthy communication and understanding.
