Description

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a widely known mental disorder that causes deficits to pathways in the brain. The D3 receptor in the mesolimbic dopamine pathway is linked to the development of PTSD in both rodents and humans. We used the single prolonged stress (SPS) model to induce PTSD-like symptoms in male C57BL/J6 mice. During the model, animals were injected (i.p.) with SB-27701A, a D3 antagonist. A high dose of D3 antagonist removed PTSD-like symptoms in mice, which suggest that antagonization of the D3 receptor can abolish PTSD-like symptoms in male C57BL/J6 mice.
