Description
The John Psathas Percussion Project is a multi-year project focusing on adapting the music of well-known New Zealand composer John Psathas for contemporary percussion ensemble. In the third phase of this project, the group focused on two of Psathas’ concerti, Djinn for Solo Marimba and String Orchestra and Psyzygyzm for Large Chamber Ensemble and arranged them for large percussion ensemble. The group then led a recording session where percussionists from around the country came to Furman to spend two weeks professionally recording these works. Upon the post-production process, all of the arranged and recorded works are to be published and become a large part of the contemporary percussion literature.
