Description

The purpose of this study was to measure the sexual attitudes and behaviors of college students, and then to draw comparisons and conclusions among demographic information and the reported sexual attitudes and behaviors. The 127 participants were asked to complete a survey and fill out a scale that defined their level of comfort with the topics in question. The goal was to compile the data in a manner that could potentially offer a more effective approach to sexual education in America, and to analyze the current trends and attitudes in the world of sex psychology among college-aged adults. A trend that was notable in the data was that the LGBTQ+ community had a very strong presence among the participants, suggesting that maybe members of the community are more apt and/or comfortable to discuss the topics covered in the survey. Another trend was that more women in the study reported that they had never masturbated compared to the men in the study, and women reported more shame associated with the act. Men also reported often that they did not believe that women masturbate. Finally, students did not report engaging in BDSM nor did they appear to be knowledgeable about the topic.
