This is paper tries to answer the question of whether immigration is a good solution to the problem of an aging society in Japan? Japan is experiencing a super-aging society and its aging population is considered to outweigh other countries. It brings economic challenges to society by lowering the number of the young labor force and higher the costs of social welfare. However, the Japanese government restricts the number and quality of immigrants. This paper will analyze the population structure of Japanese society. It will talk about the economic consequences of lacking labor forces, rising poverty rates among the elderly and changing saving behaviors of people. In addition, this paper will focus on analyzing the latest immigration policies, the immigration population structure and some possible suggestions for immigration policy.
