Abstract
This project is to determine the hydration of high school wrestlers and compare this data to how hydrated the wrestlers believe they are prior to their actual hydration being recorded. This is important because hydration is a key aspect in an athlete's life and the effect dehydration can have on one's performance. The relevance of a study like this is becoming more and more important because of the recent deaths of athletes that have been determined to be dehydrated at their time of death. This project will be specific to wrestling because of the aspect of cutting weight which is a regular activity of a wrestlers life. Cutting weight is the process of losing a certain amount of weight in an often unhealthy amount of time. This process can include not drinking water in order to reduce your water weight which can be detrimental to one's health.
