Abstract
Microplastics have the potential to cause many health problems like cancer and other problems. Many get into people’s bodies through drinking water. The target audience in this project was everybody because everybody is affected by microplastics. This product impacts all sports players. The motivation for this project was the fact that in today’s world, microplastics have caused a large commotion because there is so little known about them as of right now, and nobody knows to what extent they can harm people. The problem is important because some of these effects can lead to death. The hypothesis being tested is if a reverse osmosis filter and a Carbon block filter to filter microplastics out of the water, then the reverse osmosis filter will filter out a larger percent of microplastics. Materials used were a plastic Igloo water jug, a lifestraw, and . The independent variable was the type of filter used in order to find which one works the best. The dependent variable was the amount of microplastics reduced in the water tested. The constants are the amount of water, the same bottle, and the source of the water used. To test the hypothesis, both filters were used on drinking water. Microplastics are a big problem today, and they can potentially harm people in major ways, so a water bottle that can reduce them in drinking water would be very useful to everyone.
