-- By referring to ourtelegraphic column it will be seen that Hon. Chas.Sumner, M. C., of this city, was ferociously andbrutally assaulted in the National Senate Chamberyesterday, by a cowardly scoundrel named Brooks. An outrage so gross and villianous was neverbefore committed within the walls of the Capitol. Itis rendered additionally infamous and barbaricfrom the fact that fiendish bystanders preventedpersons who were disposed from interfering. Thisbully Brooks who has disgraced the name of man, ought to be branded as a villain of the blackestdye, and then mercilessly kicked from one end ofthe continent to the other. The black mark ofCain will stand out on his brow to the last momentof his disgraced life.
