Description

All fans of mystery and crime fiction are invited to join the Sub-Librarians for its 41st (irregular) annual gathering. Many Sherlockians have a passion for collecting all things relating to Sherlock Holmes—books, movies, games, dolls, and even chocolates—but there is a point when collecting crosses the line and becomes hoarding. In this presentation, Monica M. Schmidt, a licensed mental health counselor, will explore the pathology of hoarding. Monica M. Schmidt, ASH—that is, Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes—lives near Iowa City. She is the president of The Younger Stamfords, the Sherlock Holmes Society of Iowa City and a member of numerous Sherlockian societies, including The Hounds of the Baskerville (sic) in Chicago and The Norwegian Explorers of Minnesota. When not engaging in Sherlockian events or attending film festivals, Monica works as a mental health counselor specializing in the treatment of substance abuse and is a member of the film critic staff for Cedar Rapids radio station, KCCK. This program is sponsored by ALCTS (Association for Library Collections and Technical Services).
