Description
100 years for Sherlock Holmes; 50 years for the Golden Gate Bridge. Tthe 17th (Irregular) annual meeting took place in the Savoy Room, adjacent to the S. Holmes Esq. Pub on the 30th floor of the Holiday Inn-Union Square. The program included a Victorian high tea, announcements/toasts, Sherlockian door prizes, and a reading of Vincent Starrett's "221B". Presenters included Howard Lachtman, writer of "Sherlock Slept Here," on Conan Doyle's San Francisco Visits and Otto Penzler, publisher of the Mysterious Press, on the increasing popularity of mystery fiction. Local arrangements thanks to Eugenia Winter for her spectacular planning.
